Alliance Guide
Galactico is a competitive multiplayer game — and the endgame belongs to alliances, not solo players. Whether you want protection, coordinated attacks, or a shot at the top of the galaxy rankings, joining the right alliance is one of the most impactful decisions you'll make.
What alliances do
An alliance is a group of commanders who coordinate their empires. The benefits:
- Mutual defense: alliance members can support each other against attacks
- Coordinated raids: simultaneous multi-fleet attacks from different directions crush targets that would be untouchable solo
- Intelligence sharing: alliance members share spy reports and fleet movement warnings
- Galaxy Rankings: alliance points aggregate, and dominant alliances control the rankings board
- NAP protection: alliances can sign Non-Aggression Pacts with other alliances, creating safe zones across the galaxy map
How to join an alliance
Open the Alliance page from your game navigation. You can browse existing alliances, see their member count and total points, and apply to join.
What alliance leaders look for in applicants:
- Active play schedule (logging in daily > large but inactive player)
- Willingness to coordinate (communicating before major attacks)
- No ongoing wars with alliance members or NAP partners
- A growing economy and decent fleet for your play stage
Don't be discouraged if a top alliance declines early — build your economy first, then apply when your score is competitive. Being a medium-sized player in a strong alliance beats being the biggest player in a weak one.
Creating your own alliance
You can found an alliance from the Alliance page. Things to establish early:
Alliance tag: a short 3–5 letter identifier shown next to every member's name in the galaxy view. Choose carefully — it's your identity.
Diplomacy settings: for each other alliance you encounter, you set a relationship:
- NAP (Non-Aggression Pact): mutual agreement not to attack each other. Formalizes a truce.
- Allied: full cooperation. Members are explicitly friendly.
- War: open conflict. All members may freely attack each other.
Communication: set up a communication channel (Telegram or Discord) outside the game for real-time coordination. In-game messages are too slow for active war situations.
Coordinating alliance attacks
The most powerful alliance maneuver is the simultaneous multi-fleet strike — multiple members launch attacks that arrive at the same second on a target. This prevents the defender from recalling their fleet (fleet saving) because the attack windows overlap.
How to coordinate:
- Designate a target in your communication channel
- Calculate arrival times — each attacker adjusts launch time so fleets arrive together
- Send a probe first (one member scouts, shares the report)
- Launch from multiple directions simultaneously
A single Battleship fleet can be recalled and saved. A dozen simultaneous fleets from different galaxies cannot.
Alliance warfare
When alliances go to war, the entire galaxy politics shifts. War considerations:
- Infrastructure attacks first: hit enemy mines and facilities to slow their production before going for fleet kills
- Missile diplomacy: Interplanetary Missiles can soften enemy defense before fleet attacks without triggering an early alert (see Defense Guide)
- Fleet saving: alliance members help each other identify safe save routes and timing. See Fleet Saving Guide
- Counter-espionage: during war, probe volume from the enemy direction spikes. Watch it and warn members
- Alliance point boards: war can shift the rankings dramatically. Alliance leadership sometimes targets rankings attacks even when fleet efficiency isn't optimal
Rankings and alliances
The galaxy rankings track both individual and alliance scores. Points are calculated from your empire's total value — resource production, buildings, ships, research and defense all contribute. Alliance rankings aggregate member points.
Strategies for climbing rankings:
- Economic growth is the primary driver — mine upgrades add stable, permanent points
- Fleet value counts but is risky (fleet losses drop your score instantly)
- Alliance coordination multiplies everyone's growth through shared resource opportunities and protection from being farmed
For active war alliances, the Fleet & Combat Guide and Espionage Guide are essential reading for every member.
