First 24 Hours: Beginner Strategy Guide
Your first day in Galactico sets the trajectory of your entire account. Commanders who follow an optimal build order in the first 24 hours end up with 3–5x the production of those who don't. This guide gives you the exact sequence to follow.
The core principle: economy before military
Every hour you spend building mines compounds into permanent production advantage. Every hour you spend building ships before you can afford them is an hour of lost mine output. The single most important decision of your first day is resisting the urge to build ships too early.
Hour 0–2: Foundation
The moment you log in, start these in order:
- Metal Mine → Level 3 (queue it immediately)
- Crystal Mine → Level 2
- Solar Plant → Level 3 (energy must stay positive)
- Metal Mine → Level 4
- Deuterium Synthesizer → Level 2
Your goal by the end of hour two: Metal Mine at 4, Crystal Mine at 2–3, Deuterium at 2, energy in surplus.
Hour 2–6: Robotics and storage
The Robotics Factory is the most underrated early building. Each level cuts construction time for everything else. Get it to level 2 before continuing mine upgrades.
Then: upgrade Metal Storage and Crystal Storage once each. If you're going offline for a few hours, this prevents overflow.
Continue mine rotation: Metal Mine 5, Crystal Mine 4, Deuterium 3, Solar Plant 4–5 to keep up with energy demand.
Hour 6–12: Research Lab
Build your Research Lab at level 1 as soon as you hit the resource threshold. Then immediately start:
- Espionage Technology → Level 2 — at level 2 you can see the fleet and defense of a target, not just resources. This is what separates profitable raids from costly mistakes.
- Computer Technology → Level 1 — adds a fleet slot so you can run multiple missions.
- Combustion Drive → Level 1 — prerequisite for your first combat ships.
While research runs, keep upgrading mines. Don't let the queue sit idle.
Hour 12–18: Shipyard and first fleet
Build the Shipyard at level 1. Then queue in this order:
- Spy Probes × 5 — scout targets before attacking.
- Small Cargos × 5 — you need cargo capacity to bring loot home.
- Light Fighters × 10 — your first attack force.
Total build time for this fleet is short at Shipyard level 1. While it builds, keep your mine upgrades going in the background.
Hour 18–24: First raid
By now you should have a scout/raid fleet ready. The process:
- Open the Galaxy view and scan nearby systems for inactive players or low-defense planets.
- Send a Spy Probe first. Read the report — if resources are there and defenses are light, attack.
- Send Light Fighters + Small Cargos on a raid mission. Take the loot, return, reinvest into mines.
Repeat. Every raid accelerates your economy if you put the resources straight back into mine upgrades.
What to avoid in your first 24 hours
- Don't build a Deathstar. Or a Battleship. You can't afford it, and it won't pay off at this stage.
- Don't ignore energy. A mine running at 70% power because of an energy deficit is losing you output every minute.
- Don't hoard resources in storage. Unspent resources are a raid target. Keep the queue moving.
- Don't attack without scouting. You will lose your entire fleet to a planet that looked empty.
End of day 1 targets
If you've followed this guide, by the end of your first 24 hours you should have:
| Building | Target level |
|---|---|
| Metal Mine | 6–7 |
| Crystal Mine | 5–6 |
| Deuterium Synthesizer | 4–5 |
| Solar Plant | 6 |
| Robotics Factory | 2–3 |
| Metal / Crystal Storage | 2 |
| Research Lab | 1 |
| Shipyard | 1 |
Research: Espionage 2, Computer 1, Combustion Drive 1. First raid completed. Resources flowing straight back into the queue.
That's a strong day-one position. The Resource Management Guide covers the mid-game economy in detail when you're ready for the next layer.
