What is Star Dust?
Star Dust is Galactico's in-game soft currency — the reward you earn just by playing and the fuel for your day-to-day empire. This guide explains how Star Dust works, how to earn it, and what you can spend it on.
Star Dust vs $GLC — the key difference
Galactico runs a dual-currency economy:
Star Dust is earned through gameplay and spent on in-game items, upgrades, and boosts. It lives entirely within the game — no blockchain, no wallet, no transaction fees. Instant and frictionless.
$GLC is the on-chain Solana token for trading rare assets on the open marketplace. Optional — you can play the entire game without ever touching $GLC.
Think of Star Dust as gold coins in an RPG, and $GLC as the real-money auction house where rare drops are traded. Both exist in the same universe; they serve different layers of the economy.
How to earn Star Dust
Star Dust flows from active play. The more you do in the game, the more you accumulate:
Raiding: successful raids generate Star Dust rewards in addition to the Metal, Crystal and Deuterium loot you carry home. Active raiders are the highest Star Dust earners in the game.
Missions and objectives: completing in-game objectives and milestone missions awards Star Dust bonuses.
Rankings rewards: players who climb the galaxy rankings receive periodic Star Dust distributions. The higher your rank, the larger the reward.
Battle victories: winning PvP combat earns Star Dust proportional to the battle size.
Daily activity: simply logging in and keeping your empire active generates ongoing Star Dust income through the progression system.
What Star Dust is used for
In-game shop: the Star Dust shop carries a rotating selection of items including:
- Build time boosters (speed up a building or research job)
- Production boosters (temporary mine output multipliers)
- Defense packs (Rocket Launchers, Light Lasers in bundles)
- Ship bundles (logistics and combat ship packs)
- Resource packs (Metal, Crystal, Deuterium injections)
Central Exchange marketplace: buy and sell common game items with other players using Star Dust as the settlement currency. No on-chain transaction required.
Special event participation: time-limited events may require Star Dust entry fees or use Star Dust as their reward currency.
Star Dust is not transferable
Star Dust is account-bound — it cannot be transferred to another player, traded outside the game, or converted to $GLC or real money. This is by design: Star Dust is a progression currency rewarding active play, not a tradable asset.
If you want to trade value with other players, that's what the $GLC Open Marketplace is for. See the $GLC Token Guide.
Tips for maximizing Star Dust income
Raid consistently: the Star Dust reward from raiding compounds with frequency. Ten small raids per day outperforms one large raid per week in Star Dust terms.
Complete objectives: check the objectives panel regularly and clear it. Uncompleted objectives are Star Dust sitting on the table.
Stay active in rankings: the gap in Star Dust rewards between rank 10 and rank 100 is significant over a month. Invest in economy upgrades that push your ranking score.
Participate in events: limited-time events often offer disproportionate Star Dust for the time invested. Keep an eye on event announcements.
